History

Τhe Department of Chemical Engineering of Aristotle University was established in 1972.
The Department staff is classified in four Divisions that cover the main educational, scientific and research areas of activities:

–Division of Chemistry
– Division of Analysis, Design and Control of Chemical Processes and Plants
– Division of Unit Operations and Applied Thermodynamics
– Division of Technologies
Initially the School was restricted to a 3-floor building of 2650 m2, known as Building C, which today houses the Division of Chemistry. In 1984 the Department obtained an additional office and laboratory space of 3400 m2 in the first three floors of the new Building D, as well as a large laboratory in the basement of the same building. Finally, in 2003, 3500 m2 were added in building E13 and the new department Computer Center was created in its basement. The Lecture rooms, of additional 1000 m2, are located in the central area of the Engineering Building.

The department teaching staff includes 15 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors and 1 Lecturer. There is also a number of technical and administrative personnel.

The number of first year students in the year 2020-2021 was 150, while the total number of registered students today is 1300.
