The Computer Center of the Department of Chemical Engineering started its operation in May 1995, following the initiatives of Professors emeriti V. Papageorgiou and M. Assael, as well as with the help of the late professor S. Paras, student Z. Gallis, and the late technician M. Brindakis. Since February 2009, the Department has obtained a second computer center, thanks to the initiatives of Professors emeriti G. Sakellaropoulos and M. Assael.
Today, the Computer Center is equipped with about 30 state-of-the-art desktop computers. There is also a projector and a sound system installed in every room, used for teaching purposes.
Computer Center B’ is used only for classes, while Computer Center A’ is open to students and operates by a voluntary team of students and by the assistance of the department technical personnel.
The valuable help of D. Zacharopoulos, K. Kakosimos and A. Kanaris for the Computer Center operation in the past years must also be mentioned.

Browsers:
For Internet use (web, ftp and email) Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.6. are installed.

Microsoft Visio 2019:
Design program for flow-diagrams, organization and programming charts, building installations, logical charts, etc.

SolidWorks :
Software for the parametric design of simple and complex mechanical objects, with the added feature of simulating their mechanical behavior using the finite element method.

Comsol Multiphysics 4.0a:
Software for the simulationof processes through the solution of mass, heat and momentum transport equations using the finite element method.

Matlab:
Software for mathematical calculations, data analysis, charts, algorithms, simulation and modeling.

MICROSOFT SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION SERVICE
AUth I.T.C., in cooperation with Microsoft, offers Microsoft full software for free to the members of the academic community (students and teaching faculty), via the software distribution program of MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA). As a member, the Department can install software in labs, but also faculty and students can install software in their PCs.

SEMINARS
During the academic year, according to needs and requirements of students, seminars take place at the Computer Center, which can be attended by all under-graduate and post-graduate students.

CD WRITING
Computer Centers are equipped with CD Writers, which can be used by the School’s students.

PRINTING
Computer Centers are equipped with laser printers, where every student can print assignments, articles etc.( up to 15 pages per time – paper is not provided)
